1. Product Overview & Core Advantages
1.1 Product Overview
The PHYM Series Pressure Proportional Mixing Device (commonly known as foam tank) is a core component of foam fire extinguishing systems. It stores foam concentrate and transfers it with water, mixing the two at a fixed ratio to form a foam mixture. Equipped with a high-strength rubber diaphragm, it completely separates foam concentrate from water in the tank-ensuring leftover concentrate can be reused without waste. When combined with PFS high-expansion foam generators, PZ medium-expansion foam generators, PC low-expansion foam generators, PQ air bubble guns, or PP foam monitors, it forms various high, medium, or low-expansion foam extinguishing systems. Widely used in petrochemical enterprises, port terminals, storage yards, loading/unloading platforms, oil production platforms, airports, and garages, it effectively suppresses Class A, B, C liquid fires and solid fires (e.g., wood, paper, textiles).
1.2 Core Advantages
Compliant with National Standards: Strictly manufactured in accordance with GB20031-2005 "General Technical Conditions for Foam Fire Extinguishing Systems and Components", combined with CCC and CE certifications, ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations.
Stable Performance & Wide Adaptability: Operates within a working pressure range of 0.6–1.2MPa, with a foam mixture flow rate of 4–100 L/S (customizable). Maximum pressure loss ≤0.2MPa, ensuring stable operation in diverse system configurations.
Flexible Configuration Options: Available in horizontal/vertical installation types, integral/separated/diaphragm internal structures, and manual/automatic (solenoid valve) control methods. Tank volumes range from 1m³ to 10m³ to meet project-specific needs.
Efficient & Waste-Free Mixing: Diaphragm design prevents foam concentrate contamination; supports 3% or 6% mixing ratios (adjustable to match concentrate types). Foam injection time is calculated as T= V/(60•Q•λ) (V=tank volume, Q=mixture flow rate, λ=mixing ratio).
Broad Foam Compatibility: Works with environmentally friendly aqueous film-forming foam, protein/fluoroprotein foam, anti-solvent fluoroprotein foam, alcohol-resistant foam, and temperature/smoke-resistant high-expansion foam.
Overpressure Protection: Equipped with a safety valve (operating pressure 1.3MPa) to prevent system damage from excessive pressure.

3. Installation & Maintenance Instructions
3.1 Installation Guidelines
Installation Location: Install indoors; if installed outdoors, equip with sun, rain, and frost protection facilities. Fix the device on a concrete foundation using anchor bolts.
Pipeline Connection: Connect the water supply pipeline to the device's water inlet via flanges. Connect the foam outlet to the foam pipe network also using flanges. Determine the length of drain pipes based on on-site building facilities and sewer locations.
Pre-Filling Preparation: Before filling foam concentrate, open exhaust valves (7) and (8), close branch control valves (5) and (10), and close drain valves (14) and (15).
Foam Concentrate Filling:
Fill the tank with 1/5 of its volume with water through exhaust valve (7) to float the diaphragm; drain the water when foam concentrate reaches 2/3 of the tank volume.
Add foam concentrate via exhaust ball valve (8) or drain port (14) (for electric pump filling). Open the liquid level gauge valve (13) to monitor filling volume.
After exhausting air inside/outside the diaphragm, close exhaust valves (7) and (8), drain valves (14) and (15), and liquid level gauge valve (13). Open inlet branch valve (5) and outlet control valve (10) to put the device on standby (for automatic models, keep inlet branch control valve and bypass solenoid valve closed).
3.2 Operation Steps
Standby State: Ensure the device is properly installed, filled with foam concentrate, and valves are set as required (manual: inlet/outlet valves open; automatic: solenoid valve closed).
Fire Activation: When a fire occurs, the fire water source builds rated pressure and flow in the main pipeline. Open the inlet branch valve manually or via the fire control center (automatic model: activate the DC24V solenoid valve). Pressure water enters the tank, squeezes the diaphragm, and pushes foam concentrate into the proportional mixer. The mixer outputs a proportionally mixed foam mixture to foam generating equipment for fire suppression.
Post-Fire Reset: After extinguishing the fire, drain water outside the diaphragm via drain valves. Inspect the tank (paint, rust), diaphragm (integrity), valves (flexibility), and connections (tightness). Repair or replace damaged parts, then refill with foam concentrate following Step 3.4.
3.3 Maintenance Tips
Monthly Visual Inspection: Check for leaks at valves and connections; verify all valves are in correct positions (open/closed as required).
Annual Inspection: Conduct foam liquid level checks and diaphragm leakage tests. Notify the manufacturer immediately if the diaphragm is damaged.
Post-Use Maintenance: Flush pipelines with clean water after each use to prevent residue buildup.
Long-Term Storage: Repaint the device if paint peels or rust appears. Store in a location with stable temperature, away from direct sunlight.
Foam Concentrate Management: Use the same type/brand of foam concentrate; replace it before expiration. Drain leftover concentrate and clean the diaphragm before replacement.
Prohibited Practices: Do not exceed the working pressure range (0.6–1.2MPa); do not mix foam concentrates with oil, water, or different brands.
4. Packaging & Transportation
Our products are carefully packaged using export-standard wooden crates or wooden pallets to ensure safe transportation. This packaging method provides stability, prevents damage during handling, and guarantees that all items arrive at the customer's location in excellent condition.
5. Application Scenarios
Petrochemical Industry: Refineries, chemical plants, oil production platforms, and petrochemical storage facilities.
Port & Logistics: Port terminals, cargo storage yards, loading/unloading platforms, and shipping docks.
Transportation Infrastructure: Airports (aircraft hangars, fuel depots), garages, and railway yards handling flammable cargo.
Industrial Facilities: Factories, workshops, and storage tanks for flammable liquids or solids.
Specialized Environments: Oil tanks, chemical storage tanks, and high-risk areas with Class A/B/C fires.
6. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How to choose the mixing ratio (3% or 6%) for my project?A: Select based on the type of foam concentrate and fire risk. 3% is suitable for most aqueous film-forming foams, while 6% is often used for protein or fluoroprotein foams. Consult the foam concentrate supplier or our technical team for recommendations.
Q: Can the tank volume be customized beyond 1m³–10m³?A: Yes. We offer custom tank volumes to meet specific project requirements. Contact our sales team to discuss your needs for hydraulic calculation and device configuration.
Q: What should I do if the diaphragm is damaged?A: Stop using the device immediately and notify CA-FIRE technical support. Do not attempt to repair the diaphragm yourself-our professional team will provide replacement and installation services to ensure system safety.
Q: How often should foam concentrate be replaced?A: The replacement cycle depends on the concentrate's shelf life (consult the supplier). We recommend annual sampling inspections; replace immediately if the concentrate deteriorates (e.g., discoloration, stratification).
Q: Is the automatic control model compatible with existing fire alarm systems?A: Yes. The DC24V solenoid valve of the automatic model can be linked to most mainstream fire alarm systems. Our technical team can provide compatibility verification and wiring guidance during installation.
