Products Description
Wireless Transmitter
Handheld wireless controller provides real-time remote positioning of horizontal and vertical axes from a safe standoff distance. Enables immediate directional response during active incidents without requiring personnel to enter the hazard zone. Primary mode for incident response operations.
01
Wired Control Box
Fixed-panel wired controller for permanent control-room or fire station integration. Provides continuous and reliable command from a designated safe area. Supports interfacing with site DCS, SCADA, or fire and gas detection systems for semi-automated or automated suppression response sequences.
02
Manual Handwheel
Aluminum alloy handwheel provides fully mechanical operation requiring no electrical power whatsoever. Functions as last-resort backup during complete power failure and as primary control mode during commissioning, maintenance, and testing when electrical systems are isolated for safe work. Cannot be disabled by electrical fault.
03
Typical Applications
Oil & Gas Processing Plants
Onshore gas processing, crude stabilisation, and NGL fractionation facilities require explosion-proof equipment throughout the process area. XFS monitors protect compressor skids, separator trains, and heat exchanger banks where direct personnel access during a gas fire event is not feasible.
LNG & LPG Terminals
Cryogenic and pressurised gas terminals represent some of the highest-consequence fire scenarios in industry. Remote operation is a primary safety requirement: XFS monitors allow fire teams to direct suppression from behind blast-rated barriers or from the terminal control room without entering the hazard zone.
Offshore Platforms
Space constraints and limited personnel access on offshore installations make motorised monitors the practical choice. The XFS series handles marine salt-spray environments with SS 316 body construction, and provides the remote operation capability required by offshore PFEER and safety case documentation.

Chemical & Petrochemical Plants
Process areas handling flammable solvents, monomers, and intermediate chemicals are classified as hazardous zones throughout. XFS explosion-proof monitors are directly installable in these areas, providing water cooling and foam suppression capability controlled from a remote safe station.
Automated & Integrated Systems
The wired control box interface supports integration with site PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, enabling automated or remotely triggered suppression sequences. Suitable for unmanned or partially manned facilities where fire response must be initiated without on-site personnel present at the monitor location.
Tank Farms & Loading Racks
XFS foam monitor variants enable foam suppression to be initiated and directed from a safe muster point immediately upon fire detection, reducing the time to foam application on a Class B fire. Remote operation minimises exposure of responders to fuel vapour in loading and unloading areas.
Selection Guide
Is the Area Classified Hazardous?
If the installation area carries a Zone 1 or Zone 2 hazardous classification under IEC 60079 or equivalent national standard, the XFS explosion-proof series is the required choice. Standard motorised monitors with non-rated electrical components are not suitable for these areas. The XFS series should also be considered for Zone 2 areas where the consequence of ignition is high, even where standard equipment may be technically permissible.
01
Water-Only or Water + Foam?
Specify XFS.SP or XFS.SQ foam monitor variants where the protected hazard includes flammable liquids (Class B risk). These deliver water and AFFF/FFFP foam from a single monitor and inlet — remote foam application is initiated from the control interface without personnel entry. For Class A and general cooling duties, the XFS water-only variants (FS, AZ-1, AZ-4 series) are appropriate.
02
Nozzle Type: SS, Stacked Tips, or Straight?
The XFS1.FS series (SS+Brass nozzle) is specified for maximum corrosion resistance in marine and chemical environments. The AZ-4 stacked tips series is specified where variable flow rates are operationally desirable and must be selectable remotely without nozzle change. The AZ-1 straight stream series is specified for maximum reach and concentrated stream penetration into deep-seated fires in enclosed or congested areas.
03
Control Interface Requirements
All XFS models include wireless transmitter, wired control box, and manual handwheel as standard. For projects requiring DCS or SCADA integration, confirm interface protocol requirements at quotation stage — the wired control box can be specified with appropriate signal outputs for integration with site control systems. For unmanned facilities, auto-trigger functionality via detection system interface should be discussed with the engineering team at design stage.
