PT Series Fixed Foam Nozzle Tunnel Foam Nozzle
The PT series tunnel foam nozzle is a fixed, ceiling-mounted discharge device for foam fire suppression systems. It releases pressurized foam solution over the protected zone, forming a blanket that isolates, cools, and suffocates the fire. Six flow ratings from 2.7 to 6.6 L/s suit river-crossing, sea-crossing, urban underpass, and rail transit tunnels.

Tunnel Foam
Nozzle
A fixed discharge device engineered for foam fire suppression systems in long, enclosed traffic tunnels. Foam solution arrives through the pipe network and is discharged over the protected zone, forming a blanket that separates fuel from oxygen, cools the surface, and suppresses re-ignition.

Overview
Built for the
tunnel environment
The PT series is a fixed foam discharge nozzle for foam-based fire suppression systems. Foam solution is delivered through the pipe network under pressure and released across the protected area, where it forms a continuous blanket that isolates fuel vapor from oxygen, absorbs heat from the burning surface, and suffocates the flame - bringing the fire under control quickly in confined, ventilation-limited spaces.
Its low-profile ceiling mount and wide, even discharge pattern make it suited to long linear structures where access for manual firefighting is difficult, including river-crossing and sea-crossing tunnels, urban underpass tunnels, and rail transit tunnels.

Suppression Sequence
From pipe to fire, in three stages
Isolate
The foam blanket spreads across the fuel surface, cutting off its contact with oxygen and stopping vapor release at the source.
Cool
The water content within the foam draws heat away from the burning material, lowering surface temperature and slowing combustion.
Suffocate
A sealed foam layer remains in place after knockdown, preventing flammable vapor from re-forming and guarding against re-ignition.
Technical Data

| Model | Rated Flow (L/s) | Rated Pressure (MPa) | Working Pressure Range (MPa) | Coverage (m) | Max. Install Height (m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PT2.7 | 2.7 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 5 × 5 | 4.8 |
| PT3.4 | 3.4 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 7.5 × 5 | 4.8 |
| PT3.9 | 3.9 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 8.1 × 5 | 4.8 |
| PT4.2 | 4.2 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 9.2 × 5 | 4.8 |
| PT5.4 | 5.4 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 10.5 × 5 | 4.8 |
| PT6.6 | 6.6 | 0.35 | 0.35 – 0.80 | 12.5 × 5 | 4.8 |
All models share the same rated and working pressure range. Select by required flow and coverage footprint for the protected bay.
Layout Planning
Coverage scales with flow rating

Each model discharges over a fixed rectangular footprint, from 5 × 5 m at the smallest rating up to 12.5 × 5 m at the largest. Nozzle spacing along the tunnel bore is set to the coverage width so that adjacent discharge zones meet without gaps.
4.8 m Maximum mounting height above the protected surface across the full series.
0.35–0.80 MPa Working pressure range within which rated flow and coverage are maintained.
5 m span Fixed coverage depth across all six models; only the width varies with flow rating.
Where It's Installed
Four tunnel environments
River-crossing
Long submerged bores where ventilation and access are inherently restricted.
Sea-crossing
Immersed tube and undersea tunnels with high traffic density and long egress routes.
Urban underpass
City through-tunnels beneath dense infrastructure, roads, and buildings.
Rail transit
Metro and light-rail bores requiring compact, low-profile ceiling fixtures.
Questions We Get Often
Before you spec the system
Q: How do I choose the right model for my tunnel bay?
A: Match the model's coverage width to your bay width and lane count, then confirm your available system pressure falls inside the 0.35–0.80 MPa working range at the design flow. If the bay is wider than a single nozzle's footprint, use multiple units spaced at the coverage width so adjacent zones meet without gaps. Send us your tunnel cross-section and lane layout and our engineering team will size the array for you.
Q: Do all six models mount the same way?
A: Yes. All PT2.7–PT6.6 models share the same ceiling-mounted profile and the same 4.8 m maximum installation height; only the internal orifice changes to set the rated flow and coverage width. This means an existing pipe layout and bracket spacing can typically accommodate a different flow rating without redesigning the mounting.
Q: What happens if operating pressure drops below 0.35 MPa?
A: Rated flow and the listed coverage footprint are only guaranteed within the 0.35–0.80 MPa working range. Below that range, discharge flow and throw distance fall off and the coverage area will be smaller than specified - pump and pipe sizing should be verified to keep every nozzle in the array at or above 0.35 MPa at the furthest point in the network, not just at the pump.
Q: Can nozzles be spaced further apart than the rated coverage width?
A: We don't recommend it. The coverage figures represent the footprint over which discharge density is engineered to be effective; spacing nozzles beyond that width leaves gaps in the foam blanket between adjacent zones. Spacing at or slightly inside the rated width is standard practice.
Q: Is this nozzle suitable for both AFFF and protein-based foam concentrates?
A: The PT series is a discharge device, not concentrate-specific - it distributes whatever foam solution the upstream proportioning system delivers. Foam type and proportioning rate are selected at the system design stage based on the tunnel's fire risk and local code. Let us know the concentrate and proportioning ratio you're specifying and we'll confirm compatibility with your flow rating.
