Designed as the essential "gateway" of automatic water spray systems, the glass bulb fire sprinkler acts as an autonomous sentinel, constantly monitoring ambient temperatures to safeguard lives and properties in various building environments. Unlike manual fire-fighting tools, this device operates without power or human intervention, automatically spraying water the instant a fire breaks out, effectively suppressing the fire at its initial stage and preventing the disaster from spreading.

It adopts a high-sensitivity 5mm glass bulb as the temperature sensing core. The bulb is filled with a special thermal liquid that expands rapidly when heated. Once the ambient temperature reaches the calibrated threshold (e.g., 68°C for the common red bulb), the glass bulb bursts instantly. The sealed valve core is then released, allowing the water in the pipeline to flow out through the nozzle. Under the guidance of the deflector, the water is sprayed into a specific and uniform water mist or droplet pattern, ensuring full coverage of the protected area.

 

Maintenance Strategy

According to different installation needs and site environment requirements, the sprinkler is available in three mainstream types: Upright (T-ZSTZ) is suitable for open ceilings and exposed pipe networks, with water spraying downward to cover the entire space; Pendant (T-ZSTX) is installed on the lower part of the hanging pipe, suitable for places with suspended ceilings, and its spray direction is conducive to covering the lower space; Sidewall (T-ZSTBS) is mounted on the wall, ideal for corridors, offices and other narrow spaces, saving installation space and meeting the fire protection needs of specific areas.

In terms of hydraulic performance, the sprinkler is equipped with two common flow coefficients: K=80 and K=115. How to select the appropriate temperature level of the glass bulb?The selection of temperature level is mainly based on the maximum normal ambient temperature of the protected area. The activation temperature of the sprinkler should be 30°C higher than the maximum ambient temperature of the place to avoid false activation caused by normal temperature changes. For example, ordinary offices and residences usually use red bulb (68°C); kitchens and boiler rooms with high temperature often use yellow bulb (79°C) or green bulb (93°C).

What is the difference between K=80 and K=115 sprinklers, and how to choose?The difference lies in the flow rate. Under the same working pressure, the water flow of K=115 is larger than that of K=80. For places with low fire hazard and small space, such as offices and hotels, K=80 is sufficient; for places with more flammable and combustible materials, large space or high fire load, such as warehouses and shopping malls, K=115 should be selected to ensure sufficient water output for fire control.

Can the used sprinkler be reused after the fire is put out?No. Once the glass bulb is broken and the sprinkler is activated, it is a one-time use device and cannot be reset. After the fire, the activated sprinkler must be replaced with a new certified sprinkler, and the system should be inspected and debugged before it can be put into use again.

Will painting the sprinkler affect its use?Yes. Painting the sprinkler, especially the glass bulb and deflector, will block heat transfer and change the heat absorption rate of the sprinkler, resulting in failure to activate normally or inaccurate activation temperature in case of fire. Therefore, painting is strictly prohibited during installation and use.

What maintenance work needs to be done regularly?Monthly visual inspection is required to check whether the sprinkler has corrosion, deformation, bulb discoloration or blockage of the deflector.
