Products Description

CA-FIRE Y-Strainer for Fluid Systems
Y-type strainers play a vital role in industrial fluid systems, installed at the inlet or return of pumps, pressure reducing valves, relief valves, and other critical equipment. By filtering out impurities and debris, the strainer protects valves, pumps, and pipelines from clogging or damage, ensuring continuous and efficient operation. Designed for durability and easy maintenance, Y-strainers minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs. Suitable for a wide range of applications, including water, oil, and chemical systems, these strainers help maintain the safety and reliability of industrial fluid networks.

Application & Advantages
Applications
The Flanged and Grooved Y-Type Strainers are essential protection components designed for industrial fluid networks. Their primary applications include:
Critical Equipment Protection: Installed at the inlet or return lines of pumps, pressure-reducing valves (PRV), and relief valves to prevent damage from foreign particles.
Diverse Fluid Systems: Optimized for water and similar media, making them ideal for HVAC, fire protection, and industrial water supply networks.
System Integration: Available in both Flanged (up to DN300) and Grooved (up to DN200) connections to suit various pipeline installation requirements.
Standardized Environments: Rated for working pressures up to 1.6 MPa and temperatures ranging from 4°C to 70°C, covering a wide spectrum of commercial and industrial cooling/heating water systems.
Advantages
Enhanced System Longevity: By effectively filtering out impurities and debris, these strainers protect sensitive downstream components from clogging, erosion, and mechanical failure.
Operational Efficiency: Ensures continuous, smooth fluid flow, which maintains the performance and reliability of the entire pipeline network.
Robust Design: Built to withstand rigorous conditions, with a shell test pressure capability of 2.4 MPa, ensuring a high safety margin.
Ease of Maintenance: The Y-type configuration is specifically designed for quick access to the filter screen, allowing for easy cleaning, minimized downtime, and lower overall maintenance costs.
Versatile Installation: The availability of multiple sizes (DN50 to DN300) and two connection types (Flanged or Grooved) allows for seamless integration into existing or new industrial infrastructures.

Installation Requirements
1. Orientation & Flow Direction
Flow Direction: Ensure the arrow cast on the strainer body points in the direction of the fluid flow. Installing in reverse will render the filter ineffective.
Horizontal Installation: The "Wye" (the leg containing the filter screen) must point downward. This allows gravity to trap debris in the collection pocket and prevents it from flowing back into the pipeline.
Vertical Installation: Can be installed in vertical pipes only if the flow is downward. The filter leg must still point downward to ensure sediment settles in the cap for removal.
2. Space & Clearance
Maintenance Access: Sufficient clearance must be provided at the "Wye" end (the cover/plug side) to allow for the removal of the internal screen during cleaning or replacement.
Support: Ensure the pipeline is properly supported near the inlet and outlet. The strainer should not be used as a primary anchor or support for the piping system to avoid mechanical stress on the flanges or grooves.
3. Piping & Connections
Cleaning: Before installation, flush the upstream piping thoroughly to remove large construction debris (welding slag, stones, etc.) that could immediately clog or damage the new strainer screen.
Flanged Connection: Align flanges squarely and tighten bolts in a diagonal, crisscross sequence to ensure even pressure on the gasket and a leak-free seal.
Grooved Connection: Ensure the pipe grooves are consistent with standard specifications. Use appropriate couplings and lubricate gaskets as per the manufacturer's instructions for a secure fit.
4. System Protection (Recommended)
Isolation Valves: It is highly recommended to install isolation valves both upstream and downstream. This allows for cleaning the strainer without draining the entire system.
Pressure Gauges: For optimal monitoring, install pressure gauges at the inlet and outlet. A significant increase in pressure differential indicates that the screen is clogged and requires maintenance.
