Fire Fighting Deluge Valves
Fire fighting deluge valves are critical automatic control valves for large-scale fire suppression. Connected to water supply pipes and heat/smoke detectors, they stay closed normally.
When a fire triggers detectors, the valve opens instantly, releasing high-pressure water through all linked sprinklers or nozzles.
This creates a "deluge" effect to quickly cover large areas, ideal for high-risk zones like oil depots, chemical plants, and power stations, preventing fire spread rapidly.

What is fire fighting deluge valves?

fire fighting deluge valves
Fire fighting deluge valves are specialized automatic control valves designed for rapid, large-scale fire suppression in high-risk environments. Unlike standard sprinkler valves that stay closed until individual sprinklers activate, deluge valves remain fully closed under normal conditions, connected to a network of open nozzles/sprinklers and fire detection systems (e.g., heat or smoke detectors).
When a fire breaks out, detectors trigger the valve's release mechanism-either electrically, pneumatically, or manually-opening it instantly. This allows high-pressure water (or fire-fighting foam) to surge through all linked nozzles simultaneously, creating a "deluge" of suppressant that blankets the entire protected area.
Ideal for spaces like oil depots, chemical plants, and power stations, they quickly suppress fast-spreading, high-intensity fires, preventing escalation and minimizing damage to critical infrastructure and lives.

How to install fire fighting deluge valves?
Pre-Installation Preparation & Site Inspection
Before installation, first confirm the valve model matches the fire protection design and check if the valve body, accessories (like gaskets, bolts), and connected pipes are intact (no cracks or corrosion). Inspect the installation site: ensure it has enough space for valve operation and maintenance, aligns with the pipeline layout (horizontal/vertical as required), and the surrounding area is free of flammable or obstructive materials. Also, verify that the water supply pressure and pipe diameter meet the valve's operating specifications to avoid subsequent performance issues.
Valve Body Mounting & Positioning
Place the deluge valve on the pre-marked installation spot, ensuring it is horizontally or vertically fixed (per manufacturer guidelines) to prevent misalignment affecting water flow. Use galvanized bolts to secure the valve to the support bracket, tightening bolts evenly to avoid valve body deformation. Check the valve's inlet and outlet directions-confirm they match the pipeline flow direction (marked on the valve body) to ensure unobstructed water passage. After fixing, use a level to verify the valve is stable and not tilted, laying a solid foundation for subsequent connections.
Pipeline Connection & Seal Verification
Connect the valve's inlet to the main water supply pipe and the outlet to the deluge nozzle network using flanged connections. Install gaskets between flanges to enhance sealing, ensuring no gaps. Tighten flange bolts in a crisscross pattern to ensure uniform pressure and prevent water leakage. After connection, conduct a preliminary visual inspection: check if all joints are aligned, bolts are properly tightened, and there are no loose parts. Then, perform a low-pressure leak test (using water or air) to confirm no leaks at joints or the valve body.
System Debugging & Post-Installation Check
Connect the valve's control system (e.g., electric/pneumatic actuators, fire detectors) to the main fire alarm system, ensuring signal transmission is smooth. Test the valve's opening and closing functions: trigger the detector or use the manual release device to check if the valve opens instantly and closes tightly when the fire signal is cleared. Verify the water flow rate and pressure at the nozzles to ensure they meet fire suppression requirements. Finally, clean the installation site, organize installation records, and label the valve (e.g., model, installation date) for future maintenance and inspection.
