Aluminum & brass blank cap with chain attachment
A Barcelona-type blank cap for sealing unused hydrant outlets, standpipe connections and hose couplings between uses. Fitted with an NBR gasket for a pressure-tight seal and secured with an S-hooked safety chain so the cap can't be misplaced in the field.

Same 3-claw face as the coupler range - fits any outlet in the family
NBR gasket seals the outlet against pressure and debris
S-hooked chain keeps the cap attached to the outlet or cabinet
Cast aluminum or brass body, matched to the coupler material on site

How they're made
Every coupler shares the same claw geometry and NBR sealing arrangement; the difference between (F), (C) and BR options is the raw process and material behind the fitting, chosen to match how hard and how often it gets used.

(F) FORGINGForged aluminum
Worked under pressure into a denser grain structure, giving forged bodies better impact and fatigue resistance - the option engine-mounted couplers see most often.
(C) CASTINGCast aluminum
Cast bodies hold complex claw and thread geometry at a lower unit cost, suited to hydrant outlets and cabinet fittings produced in volume.
BRBrass alloy
Brass resists salt air, chemical exposure and repeated wet/dry cycling better than aluminum, for marine vessels, coastal stations and industrial sites.
Frequently asked questions
Q: What does "UNE23400" compliance actually cover?
A: UNE23400-1 and UNE23400-5 are the Spanish standards that define the "Barcelona-type" fire coupling - the claw diameter, engagement angle and sealing face that let couplers from different manufacturers connect and seal together. Building to this standard means our hose-tail, BSPP and blank-cap parts will mate with existing Barcelona-type equipment already in service.
Q: Should I choose the forged (F), cast (C) or brass (BR) version?
A: Forged aluminum is the toughest option and is typically specified for couplers mounted on fire engines and pumps, where impact and repeated hard connection are routine. Cast aluminum is the standard choice for hydrant outlets and cabinet fittings where cost and volume matter more than peak impact strength. Brass is worth the upgrade wherever the fitting sits in salt air, wash-down chemicals, or constant wet/dry cycling - coastal stations, ports and marine vessels being the common cases.
Q: Can an aluminum coupler on one side connect to a brass coupler on the other?
A: Yes - the claw face and dimensions are the same across ALU-F, ALU-C and BR versions of a given DN size, so material choice on either side of the joint doesn't affect the connection. Mixing materials is a normal way to put a more corrosion-resistant coupler only where it's actually needed, without re-speccing the whole hose line.
Q: What is the NBR seal rated for, and does it need replacing?
A: NBR (nitrile rubber) is used across this range for its resistance to water, mild fuels and oils, and general outdoor weathering, and it's fitted as standard on every washer, seal and gasket in the catalog. Like any elastomer seal it's a wear item - inspect it at scheduled hose testing and replace it if it's cracked, flattened or no longer seating cleanly, rather than waiting for a leak to show up under pressure.
Q: Can Ca-Fire supply non-standard sizes, threads or project quantities?
A: The DN25–DN75 range shown here covers the sizes we run as standard stock, but the tooling supports other thread types, claw diameters and branding for qualifying project volumes. Send us the outlet drawing or existing coupling sample and our sales engineers will confirm lead time, minimum order quantity and pricing for a custom run.
