Aqueous film-forming foam liquid has significant advantages in dealing with non-water-soluble Class B fires (such as fires involving liquids like gasoline, diesel, kerosene, crude oil, etc., which do not mix with water)
Large-scale oil fires: When the fire involves extensive oil leakage (such as leakage from oil storage areas, oil tankers running aground and leaking oil), large oil tanks (single tank capacity ≥ 5000m³) or oil pool fires, the high fluidity of water film foam liquid can rapidly spread and cover the oil surface, generating a foam layer that can effectively isolate air. At the same time, the water vaporized from it forms a continuous water film on the oil surface. Due to the effect of fluorocarbon surfactants, this water film can spontaneously spread, further preventing the evaporation of oil vapor and isolating oxygen, thereby increasing the fire suppression speed to 2-3 times that of ordinary protein foam liquid. For example, in a 10000m³ gasoline tank fire, water film foam liquid can control the fire within 10 minutes, while protein foam liquid may take more than 30 minutes.

Airports and aircraft hangars: Aircraft fuel (such as aviation kerosene) is a low-viscosity non-water-soluble liquid. During a fire, the fire spreads extremely fast (up to 1-2 meters per second), and the rapid spreading ability of water film foam liquid (with a spreading speed of up to 0.5m/s) can cover the aircraft surface and ground fuel in a short time. It is the recommended airport fire-fighting foam liquid by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Ships and offshore platforms: The spaces in ship engine rooms and oil tanker cargo holds are enclosed and the fuel reserves are large. During a fire, the high temperature and thick smoke environment will increase the difficulty of firefighting. The high fluidity of water film foam liquid can be transported through pipelines to narrow spaces. The water film's fire-resistant performance can resist the high temperature inside the engine room (up to 800℃), and it has excellent seawater resistance (can be directly mixed with seawater), and no additional water source treatment is required.
Petrochemical plant's equipment area: Fires caused by leaks in petrochemical equipment (such as distillation towers and reaction vessels) are usually accompanied by high temperature, high pressure and complex pipeline layouts. Unsuitable scenarios: Avoiding misuse leading to failure
Afff Foam Concentrate 3 is highly effective, but it is not universal. The following scenarios are not recommended for use:
Pure water-soluble Class B fires (such as pure methanol, ethanol fires): Ordinary water film foam liquid will be dissolved by water-soluble liquids, and anti-soluble water film foam liquid (AFFF/AR) should be used instead;
Small-scale, low-cost fire situations (such as small oil barrel fires): Water film foam liquid is relatively expensive (about 3-5 times that of protein foam liquid), and it is not cost-effective for small-scale fires;
Low-temperature environment (temperature < -10℃ and without heating system): Ordinary water film foam liquid will lose its fluidity due to solvent solidification, and a dedicated anti-freezing type (with ethylene glycol added) should be selected; otherwise, it will clog the pipeline.
