The threaded water flow indicator (ZSJZ Series) is installed directly on the fire sprinkler pipeline to monitor water movement within a designated protection zone. Proper installation location is critical to ensure accurate signal transmission and reliable system operation.
1. Branch Lines (Zone Monitoring)
Most commonly installed on horizontal branch pipes serving specific floors or fire compartments. This allows the control panel to identify which zone has activated during a sprinkler discharge.
2. Main Distribution Pipes
Can be installed on vertical risers or main supply lines to monitor larger sections of the sprinkler network. In multi-story buildings, it is typically placed on each floor's distribution line.
3. Horizontal or Vertical Orientation
The device can be mounted on both horizontal and vertical pipelines, provided the flow direction matches the arrow marked on the body.
4. Installation Position Requirements
Installed downstream of the control valve
Located before branch line take-offs (if monitoring entire section)
Maintain sufficient straight pipe length upstream and downstream to ensure stable paddle operation
Avoid installation near elbows, reducers, or pumps where turbulence may affect accuracy
5. Small-Diameter Pipe Application
The threaded (screw-type) connection design is suitable for smaller pipe diameters, making it ideal for compact sprinkler systems or sectional fire protection networks.
Correct installation ensures accurate water flow detection, fast alarm response, and reliable linkage with the fire alarm control panel or fire pump system.
