Fire Hose Reels

Internationally recognized standards for firehose reel installation location and height are primarily governed by ISO 14520, NFPA 1962, and BS 5306 (European standard). For location, reels must be mounted in unobstructed, highly visible areas-such as corridor intersections, stairwell entrances, and near high-fire-risk zones (e.g., storage bays)-with a maximum 30-meter distance from any potential fire point on the same floor. They must not be blocked by equipment, furniture, or debris, and should align with emergency evacuation routes for easy access during crises.

For height specifications, the operational nozzle or control valve must be positioned 0.8–1.2 meters above floor level, ensuring ergonomic access for most adults, including those of average stature. The reel's base should be at least 0.15 meters off the ground to prevent water damage and corrosion from floor moisture. For barrier-free access (per ADA guidelines), the valve height may be adjusted to 0.7–1.1 meters to accommodate wheelchair users. These standards ensure rapid, hassle-free deployment during early-stage fire response, minimizing delays and maximizing safety.
