1.Prepare & Inspect Components
First, check the GOST-type fire hydrant and matching fire hose for damage-ensure the hydrant's outlet threads are intact, and the hose's GOST coupling has no cracks or worn gaskets. Clear debris from the hydrant's outlet to avoid blocking water flow; confirm the hose is fully unfolded and free of kinks.

2.Align Coupling with Hydrant Outlet
Hold the fire hose's GOST coupling, align its internal threads (or quick-connect notches, per GOST specs) with the hydrant's outlet. Ensure the coupling's gasket is properly seated to prevent leakage. For threaded types, start twisting the coupling by hand to avoid cross-threading, which could damage both parts.

3.Secure the Connection Tightly
Use a fire hose wrench to tighten the GOST coupling onto the hydrant-turn clockwise until firm. For quick-connect GOST couplings, push the coupling onto the hydrant outlet and lock it in place via the built-in latch or twist-lock mechanism until a "click" confirms it's secured. Avoid over-tightening to prevent thread deformation.

4.Test for Leaks & Activate Hydrant
Open the hydrant's valve slowly to allow low-pressure water flow. Check the coupling connection for leaks-if none are found, fully open the valve to supply the required water pressure. Confirm the hose delivers water smoothly before starting firefighting operations; after use, close the hydrant first, then loosen the coupling to disconnect the hose.
